A Powerful Discovery
After acquiring a BA in Sociology, I worked in the commercial insurance industry for 10 years. It wasn’t until I had two children, both with multiple food sensitivities and allergies, that I came to understand the power of food.
In 1999, I gave birth to my first daughter, Taylor. Within 24 hours of her arrival, Taylor’s reactions to foods became apparent. As a newborn, Taylor experienced bouts of projectile vomiting, colic, and constipation. As a toddler, Taylor became extremely constipated, to the point where she was in pain for the better part of 6 months. As a young girl, mood swings began to surface.
As a result of extensive research, I learned that food sensitivities and allergies were the culprits and that Taylor, in fact, had problems with all of the common allergens.
In 2002, I gave birth to her second daughter, Paige. Paige also had food sensitivities! I approached the raising of this child very differently, as a result of her research on nutrition. I also tested what I had learned with Taylor, on Paige, to see if the teachings applied to more than one child. I was thrilled to find that the knowledge I had gained was sound!
Currently, Taylor can eat any food that she wants to without any major repercussions. In addition, I have two extremely healthy and happy children. When Taylor has a cold, she has the sniffles or a cough for a day and then it’s over. Neither daughter has ever had an infection or been prescribed drugs. I need no further proof of the power of food.
My major focus has been on “food” since 1999. I am a Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner (R.N.C.P.), graduating from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN) in Richmond Hill, Ontario with Certificate of Merit. I specialize in pediatric nutrition. In 2010, my book ‘The Resourceful Mother’s Secrets to Healthy Kids‘ was published; it assists parents in tackling food sensitivities and allergies and help them heal their children.
Today, I own The Resourceful Mother, a company whose major function is to help other parents heal their children physically and emotionally and for some, prevent the need for healing. I regularly conduct seminars at Prenatal Plus Parenting Centre, community centres, schools, CSNN and out of my home. I teach pediatric nutrition to future nutritionists at CSNN. My book is the textbook for the pediatric course at the Edison Institute of Nutrition – a worldwide correspondence nutrition program. I also meet with parents on an individual basis, teaching them how to do things differently than the majority, in order to raise the healthiest, happiest, and most wholesome children possible. There has never been a family that The Resourceful Mother could not help.
Here is what one recent blog reader had to say….
Meredith spoke at Goodness Me Natural Health Food Store in Hamilton last Tuesday and
I attended this workshop. This was the first time I had heard her speak and even though
over the past few years I have learned so much from Shawn Nesbitt a nutritionist as well, I was very impressed with the new knowledge I gained from the talk. Her examples and obvious expertise on her topic of feeding children well to keep them healthy was enlightening and easy to follow. Meredith captivated her audience and made everyone feel comfortable no matter where they were on the learning scale for eating healthier and feeding their children to promote good health. She suggests realistic ways to start the process in order to ensure success and rather than lecture she tactfully shares her ideas and lets the audience absorb them and know that they are the ones who in the end must decide what they will do with the information. I would encourage anyone wanting to learn more about feeding their babies and children well to attend Meredith’s next workshop in your area. Excellent Presentation
